It's not every day your red-costumed, motor-mouthed killing machine gets to save the day for a change; it's also not every day you get to slaughter anything that's not of this world, at least, in Deadpool's perspective, all in the name of patriotism and all that. It's the invasion of the shape-shifting aliens known as the Skrulls, and with no one being who they seem to be, the odds apparently are stacked against everyone as the clock ticks away till everyone gets their own Skrull replacement. It all rests upon the shoulders of Deadpool, the Merc with the Mouth and penchant for bloodshed and mass destruction, to save the world or, as it had always been the case, screw it all over.
It all started when Deadpool decided one day to trap an invading Skrull spaceship inside a baseball stadium with him. Upon managing to guide said spaceship on a collision course into the ground, said mercenary was able to convince the Skrulls that he was there to aid them in their quest for world domination. It didn't go so well as planned, rather, not in any sense of comfort for Deadpool, as the Skrulls settled on redefining the word 'aid' by pulling on him a Weapon X, cloning out Skrull versions of the mercenary, all equipped with the latter's wondrous capabilities for healing. Deadpool only managed to stave off death by offering to coach the Skrull Deadpool clones into the fine specimen the original was, which comprised largely of insanity and a terrible sense of humour. The situation worsens when the clones themselves simulated the insanity Deadpool prides on by blowing each other's heads off and slaughtering the Skrull's remaining arsenal of Super Skrulls. It was later revealed that Deadpool was hired earlier by one Nick Fury in order to infiltrate the Skrull spaceship and retrive particular data as to how to kill the Skrull queen, which was somehow intercepted by Norman Osborn, AKA the Green Goblin, who apparently was the one screwing over our sufficiently crazed hero here in the end...
