I've had a skim through this issue of a team-up between Iron Man and Thor titled God Complex. What with the after-effects of the Dark Avengers' Siege of Asgard up to their knees, Thor was forced into action once more with being assaulted by Ulik the troll, defeated only with the aid of Diablo, while Iron Man was lured away from the midst of picking through the ruins of Asgard by the Crimson Dynamo only to be snared by a physically amplified High Evolutionary, who was responsible for the attacks on both heroes, the intent behind which had been to conceive of all things, a new god to take lead of the world, what with the phenomenal advances in technology humanity registered at this point, and the ancient pantheons still firmly entrenched in mysticism, sorely outpaced, and the ingredients he needed to make it happen was the Destroyer Armor, which Ulik was charged with retrieving, and Tony Stark, who the High Evolutionary deemed to be an appropriate vessel for omnipotence, a man representing both humanity and technology.
Really, a new god is what people really need right now? As if they'd even been in thrall of previous pagan pantheons before it. A god of technology, should it be allowed to happen, would certainly come as a release from a really long line of animistic deities. Truth be told, the whole affair serves a somewhat vague point. How would a new god actually bring about a better future for the whole of mankind, for starters? Power is not something to be trifled with, and as much as we know about Tony Stark, who knows what might happen. We'd probably be facing an outbreak of cyborgs and women. Probably.
Second, what do Ulik and the Crimson Dynamo have to gain from this endeavor? More specifically, what do they have to gain from a new god? One, a troll; the other, a man in a robot suit. Other than sweet revenge, I can think of nothing else. They're not really far-sighted beings, are they?
The art is good, though the plot could do better. Anyone who loves both Iron Man and Thor kicking butts together could certainly relish on this a bit.
